first day of HOW design conference

was great. i'm beat. i have no internet at the hotel so, am doing this at the conference. will be brief. took a awesome digital photo workshop. i have some photos i worked on from it. all bout having your camera at all times and shooting whatever u see that is inspirational or can be used later either as reference or in your design. real into macro and flashlights. me too now.

then took lettering from ken barber at house industries. this is him sketching some lettering. this is harder for me. we did some hands on and something i'll have to really practice -- which is the only way you can get good at your craft anyway. with anything you do. photos, sketch, observe. just practice lots and create for no good reason other than to do it..

then the keynote - and who sits besides me in a mass of 2400 people?? a guy from Austin Texas - the university of TX no less. i've met him before - he's also a designer. that was pretty cool.

then back to the hotel to the exhibit hall. im wasted by now. so get a cab back to the hotel and stop to pick up a million bandages. i'm a cyclist. not a walker. i realize now i rarely walk anywhere. i do love to walk but the shoes were not quite right. ha. fashion over practical.
