cars on campus are evil
little mr. throwup. he got sick at 3am and threw up 4 times. poor guy. he needs to lay off the boozin for a while.
i should not be complaining about anything with the hurricane crap going on. that's a mess. it has to be hellish to be surrounded by putrid water, no food or clean water, no home or clean clothes - hell maybe still trapped on a roof or in a sinking city. so scary as people panic. i read they spotted a 3ft shark swimming around. i send my hope to them and the stranded pets.
here's links to help.
on a local note...and to begin the complaining - sorry. school's back in session. campus is buzzing. that doesn't have to be a bad thing. in fact, it's kinda exciting. what's not exciting is the amount of car traffic that has increased because of these things. it's been harrowing riding around, including my commute to and from campus this week. it's quite clear...the dog days of summer are over. i should not have taken them for granted.
now the drag and campus is piled with cars and construction trucks - and everyone is driving too fast. what's the fucking hurry? i usually ride guadalupe from 27th to wheatsville at 31st for lunch. not a big deal. the past 2 days, i've felt fortunate to get back to the office in one piece.
it just sucks. and i'm used to riding in traffic. i don't understand the need for all the car traffic around such a small and condensed area as the campus. use a bus, a bike or walk or combo of those. shit. where is everyone going? i have found that i can do just about all that i need within a bike ride of my house and work. and if not, there's buses. i'm not total anti-car. we have one. they are useful for transporting kegs. i would just like to see a decrease of car traffic, at least around campus and generally downtown.
simplify. slow down. disconnect from being a consumer. we don't need as much as we think we do. be a human. be nice. ride a bike. walk. i think the pace and attitude of folks would be so much lovelier if more did. let's go swimming.
