ICE DAY
working in texas during the winter rocks. lots of stuff closed down today due to bitter cold and some ice on the road. (btw: thank me later. but that was me that was riding around dumping all the water on the roads) so UT closed at 2pm yesterday and all day today. YES. but i have to say: it was bitter out there (no wise cracks from those north of texas). i rode to campus yesterday and over to central market and i was woefully underdressed. mainly my hands. my gloves sucked. and my hands stung like a couple of colonies of wasps had gotten hold of them. cold, rainy and windy. no i didn't say whiney, ok?
i rode to the bakery this morning, and i did witness ice. mainly in the grass, on the porch, but the little bridge i go over was iced up. anyway: i'm not complaining. i'll take any kind of ice day. even if it's only enough to make a decent margarita.
i met up with patrick on tuesday to get my tshirt from the solstice race. he was out on the messengering job and said he'd be working yesterday, when all this blew in. said after 5 years, you get used to it. ouchie. i wonder if nick pulled the pedicab. might be ok with a flask of friendly spirits.
speaking of - ok im off to get some bailys irish creme for the eve. sit in front of the fire and i toast to you all...
May all the giant hearts be tall as day,
may all your winter nights be warm as may.
cheers.

Re: me pulling the pedicab
Helllll nooooo! I'm from the dirty dirty South of Texas, we don't do freezing temperatures, nonono.
hahaha. FINALLY a texas biker with some SENSE. this weather blows for cycling - im so wrapped up i can barely look behind me. i was gonna head out for some extended riding this eve. but screw it. the weekend is lookin better though.
I should chime in that I'm a yankee. However, last week's temperatures felt cold to me. I'm certain, however, that being in Texas for almost seven years has softened me up. I remember that I used to like being out sub-freezing weather, but this last blast of cold weather was plenty for me.
true dat. i can live with 70's.
