suffering in headwind
well its not about complete suffering. but yesterday, i decided to get on the road bike and up on 360 with southwest headwinds of 15mph. it felt good coming back in it from the movies saturday nite, so why not make the legs work more. funny thing about headwind, when u turn around its your best friend. but first u need to ride it. hear it in your head (cuz u can't hear the damn ipod), see other people out there pushing in it. and then those on the other side of the road, loving and smiling in the tailwind. there was alot of people out - but i had my head down most of the way south. it just felt like it was easier that way. nevertheless. for whatever reason, i needed that. and it was a good pain. cedar pollen and all.
the very minute i turned around, it was silent. almost creepy -- the ride back was like being superman. till i had to turn BACK south on shoal creek to get to the house. forgot about that last 30min. that really did hurt then.
here's a shot i got of the 360 bridge. notice how there are no cars. none. it was that eerie silence for 15seconds. peaceful. like being the only person on the bridge with the vultures up above. it didn't last. but it was a nice moment.

nice recap of the ride. pain is good.
there's a song by juliet that i kinda doubt you've heard or would even like (it's electronica), but...it's fitting. quite fitting with the ride you describe.
the chorus rings big in beats and soulful vocals;
"ride the pain into pleasure/don't stop now with the pressure"
it's a favorite climbing song of mine and it always seems to come on when the going gets rough.
:-) nice. thanks tim...
Thanks for the pics! I always enjoy seeing Austin photos, been a few years since I've been there. Keep it up!
i'll have to show you a lil spot to the left of the bridge to ride...i think you might like it.....toodillizz
thanks DT.
and yes mark! anything new is always welcome. lemme know. and hope you feel better.
