pirates need wind. bikes...not so much
every weekend, i have been hooking up with the wind as an uninvited guest. it starts by me checking wunderground which normally says it will be cold in the morning but windless and warm in the afternoon but windy. dang. then, for all kinds of procrastination reasons, i finally get out of the house around noonish. and there...waiting for me...and always coming in the wrong direction...is the wind. yesterday i had some company. whit is structure testing his new frame creation, and jbomb and her out of town friend randy wanted to get a ride in also. perfect. so off we all go to the sprinkle route. 42miles in the flats with the big wind and sky and cows. whit powered through nicely, jbomb almost blew over a few times on her "i really want this serotta but for now i will just borrow it from the shop for my road rides", randy got to take in all that is east austin farmlands (and wind) and i renewed my appreciation for eating a bit more than 2 pieces of toast before a long ride. midway through the ride heading west with the wind gusting at 18mph, we all started talking about the things we were going to eat once we got back.

But I thought that Sunday was your no-bike day. I would have called if I had not have remembered that.
It was really nice out though. Damn the wind!
