62m ride started the weekend
there is something about riding alone in a crowd that i have always enjoyed. its prolly the same thing as being alone in a big city feeling. you can simply be an observer as you go about your way. again the social anthropologist....
i rode the rosedale ride on saturday. its one of my favorite charity rides. the school it sponsors is awesome and does good work for the kids. the volunteers out there are just so grateful you came out to ride and friendly and sweet. its only $30 and it's on part of my favorite routes out east ... the new sweden sprinkle route.
the 62mile was 80% new route for me -- we ended up in elgin and then swung back and passed new sweden church and back in. the weather couldn't have been more pleasant. sunny, little wind, 60's-70's. it was a good day to be on the bike. here's the only fixie i saw on the ride.
when i got home, i had 2 tofu icecream cuties and then a glass of baileys. is that wrong? i thought i read somewhere that was a good recovery methodology.
sunday i decided i need to plant. i am really no good with plants but have, at times, been successful with a garden. i wanted to give it another try and rode the monkeyxtra up to our neighborhood nursery, loaded up 40pounds of soil and a bunch of plants, and rode home. but first i almost toppled over till i got the center of gravity right on the xtra. that was fun.
