when good handlebars go bad

so what was that? can you imagine riding and suddenly your handlebars drop underneath your hands and you have nothing to hang onto or brake with.....that was george hincapie's nitemare at Paris-Roubaix sunday. when i first saw it, i thought: well that's an awkward place to take your hands off the handlebars and sit up, as they were riding over the cobblestones. sucks. dropping out of a long anticipated race due to mechanicals, especially when all else is going so well, just almost takes your soul.

ha...Sherwen just referred to the cobblestones as: slippy. and also that 'this is a real man's race'. arg. i love Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen and i love bike racing. It's not a done deal, oops maybe so. they got stopped by a train?.....its' looking good for the swiss with 12km to go.

yeh. What the hell was up with the train?? Then disqualifing the three guys for going over the tracks. Shouldn't the official at the tracks be asked why he didn't stop them??

Yeah, that train was hauling butt too. I bet when those guy were being stopped, they couldn't even see it. They probably said, 'Look, there isn't even a train - screw this' - and bolted.

Lameness.

Here's an up-close of where Big George's steerer sheared off. Having done roughly the same thing a number of times, I do not envy him the way he must have felt the next morning. Ow.
