life is fast

this week is already a blur with no stopage in sight. i've been getting ready for the yellow bike art show and party at gallery lombardi. its saturday. should be a good party with attic ted. can't ever go wrong there. hope all can come out. u know that awful cycle of procrastination, then getting sick over stressin it. ya. one day i'll grow up.

the tour de organics ride was fun. we did 100k route. nick, ben and patrick did the 100miler. i didn't get to see them. sounds like they started around 7am. we got off at 7:30. it wasn't a mass start. just start when u want. but to beat the heat, better to get out early. the rest stops rocked with the grub: figs, mangos, best trailmix, bananas, most delicious oranges, hummus, hot sauce (?), clif nectar bars and a bucket of wildflowers. at the midway point they had veggie burrito rolls. damn those were good. this big happy dog was at the lunch stop. it was onion creek farms - a beautiful place with a huge garden and babbling creek and hairy manatee dog.

some of the ride was 'hug the white line and keep your elbows in'. down 71 was a bitch. maybe cuz it was the tail end of the ride and hot but mostly cuz of the 80mph traffic whispering in your ears. that galleria at 71 and 620 kinda makes me sick. i remember driving 71 at nite to some seafood place and it was pitch black like you were really out in the country. big foot country. if he was a cactus dweller. consumption. why a galleria at bee cave? barton creek mall not good enough anymore? arg. sorry. i wasn't trying to pull a 'well i remember back in the day...'

ok nevermind. here's something good. dont forget about the bikes across borders ride thur. nite 7pm. last year's was huge. and if you find yourself heading to san antonio, a guy brian emailed me about, maybe the first ever, alleycat race in downtown SA. theres prizes too. more info on this stuff.

here's the rest stop food. sustainability kicks ass.

the rest stop food was the best evah

there is a 100 mile mountain bike race here on the east coast
there are check point pit stops
these things make the race possible

my brother swears by the gummy bears
personally
I like the variety
peanut butter and jelly, swedish fish, bananas, slim jims, whatever catches my eye

it seemed like people were complaining about the ride a bit (one dude whined about having to ride over some dirt road), but i enjoyed it immensely. the only downsides were missing the end of the ride meal because we took too long (swimming break!) and not getting to see more people doing the ride (like you guys) since only like 15 people did the 100 miler. one of whitney's friends rode it on a fixie, 42x12, hardcore. but yeah, i'm planning a camping ride soon. i'll keep you posted, toot toot!
