sweaty austin
out of 100 cities, austin was ranked the 7th sweatiest city. i can vouch for this. there is pride in bike commuter sweat stank. u work hard for it. climbing hills, dodging cars and peds, riding in stuffy elevators with well dressed people. i've always thought maybe people think u are a heroin addict or just really nervous. but, once u are out in it all the time - you get passed worrying about it and figure to some extent everyone else is sweating too. who cares. that's what patchouli is for right? ;-) the article says, "Collectively, Austin residents excrete enough sweat to fill one Olympic-sized swimming pool every hour." i feel like this is something we should harness and figure out a way to make some spending money off this sweat. speaking of sweat. nick said dustin's 6pack ride on saturday nite was a blast. they even got caught by the 2am thunderstorm that rolled up and bout blew them over. they had made it to the old airport (i've been wanting to ride there and hang out. i like old abandoned places) and were chillin out when it hit. sorry i missed that one. sounds like good fun.

A swimming pool full of sweat. Hooo.
I used to live in Fort Worth and commute 20 miles one way by bike to my job in Irving. Mornings weren't too bad, but summer afternoons when the temperature was 100 and the humidity in the 90s I probably excreted my own swimming pool's worth of sweat. By the time I got home, my shorts and jersey were coated in white salt.
that's a decent communte! yes....but more reason to drink more and rehydrate. :-)
yuk
remind me if I ever go to austin...
not to go swimming in any of their pools
