getting ice cream in you pajamas

i won this on ebay for $21. score.

you know what i find sexy? people that can sew. or knit. u know, make stuff that you actually wear. i was in home economics in high school where we learned how to sew and cook (i loved that class even though maybe it was girl geeky) and i sewed some cotton summer pants. they were this blue striped material (but not like prison wear) and i wore them all summer. which says alot cuz usually things i make don't stay together. all my art sculptures in college were usually held together with found rusted wire and nails haphazardly nailed throughout the piece. my welds never really could be trusted (more wire please) - and anything hung...well just dont walk too hard by it.

when i was in my last semester of college, i was living in austin and working at martins kumbak dirty's hamburgers on the drag. back then, i was the youngest person working there and my job was waitressing the bar and fetching the old man's cigerettes out of the machine. im tellin you he was old and didn't get up much. the front table was always reserved for him and his buddies. he would always tell me to get busy. even when there wasn't anybody around to wait on. the other 2 waitresses i worked with were in their 60's and had worked there most of their lives. it was a very trippy job. but i learned alot and actually liked it. lots of characters. kinda like barfly but in a hamburger joint.

i used to wear this skirt that i had made out of various pieces of cloth. i loved that skirt. it was comfy and worn in. one day, one of the waitresses brought me a sack of her clothes that i guess she no longer wore and said if i needed some clothes to please take these as she just wanted to help. i was kinda embarrassed. i thought my skirt rocked. anyway: the bag was full of those lady koolots that my mom used to wear. they are like a skirt but underneath are shorts. it was a very nice gesture.

not long after that, i was graduating and they gently let me go by saying: "well, since you are graduating i'm sure you have big plans and woudn't want to work here anymore." i didn't. and kinda had a dramaless nervous breakdown after graduation, cuz i was clueless on what to do with myself and my big art degree. but u know. hardships makes the person.

here's a few people i've run across lately that make great and wonderful things that are useful and lovely.

oh ya. so, after my ride at lunch, i came home and showered. then went up to the corner store in my pj bottoms and bought some ben and jerry's ice cream. that just means i gotta go back out and do another 20miles. oh well. snakes on a MF plane.
