i have equipped myself with my own personal floatation device. u know, in case of torrential flooding and high waters or i dunno. tsunami. its just best to be prepared i hear.

a couple more tour de france things then i promise to move on.

this is a beautiful black and white foto gallery of very early tour de france images and experiences. there are the racers and spectators. i really love seeing the old race experience. i read they had a back wheel that they all stopped and took off and turned around for an easier gear when they hit the mountain stages.

the Tour de France Lanterne Rouge:

--------
Wim Vansevenant got some bonus time at the day's second sprint, but he still managed to finish 138th (out of 139) to cement his hold on the 2006 Tour's lanterne rouge.

Vansevenant finished 4:02:01 behind Floyd Landis.

“Lanterne rouge is not a position you go for,” Vansevenant said. “It comes for you.”
--------

well said Wim Vansevenant.
