you would think i could write a sentence or two
gah. sorry i got distracted with my nuclear device testing deployment and shit if the little dickies coveralls wearing bastard didn't beat me to the punch.
i got pie a illuminated safety vest and orange collar that blinks. actually they both blink. so he's like a christmas tree underdog. spiffy to say the least. got it cuz its getting darker now (boo), but cooler (yeah).
the AMLI downtown crit friday nite was good fun. fast and treacherous crit racing in the streets of downtown austin under the lights. it rocked. crashes took out the lead group in the pro/1/2 race and the 4/5 race BOTH times in the last lap. rotten tomatoes! all that work to be taken down.
the pro/1/2 racers that went down saw some blood and nasty cuts. we were standing directly in front of where it happened and had JUST moved towards the finish line to watch them come across. i turned my head to watch the lead group fly by and saw the bodies going into the pileup. ugly i tell you. sol, from austin bikes went down in that crash, but was able to finish i believe. not fun to see folks hit pavement. the 4/5's crashed on the first turn - i didn't see that one and i think everyone was able to finish. benedict gave patrick his bike in order to cross the finish line.
wooly mammoth made a stomping. patrick was in the lead group the whole race and in a good position before the crash. benedict and gordo followed along with PJ - so we did lots of cheering and heckling.
messenger john took the 3/4 race! AND EVEN organized a alleycat checkpoint race later that nite. now that is skills. wait till i get the spoke card up from it. i love it. best evah.
i thought the whole event was fun to watch. they sent out the little kids, i mean tiny kids, and some of those guys were taking their sweet time till nick lay into them and yelled for them to quit suckin wheel and pedal like you stole it! sheesh - they were having too much fun. how we gonna make winners out of these little tykes. oh stop. no one yelled at them. they were adorable.
its just good to see a big racing event on the streets of austin. tons of folks out on their bikes hanging out and having fun. its a good thing - more of it i hope.
i got some pics and promise to get them up soon. cross my heart. sadly, all i got was 4/5 race cuz i was lame and forgot to change my battery out before i left the house.
in the meantime: its safety pie - protector of all bicycle folks.
safety pie checks for mutant monsters
if you need safety bike pie - just whistle a happy tune.
