yes ride bikes always
im a hot weather girl. i like to sweat. but change is good. seasons are nice. living in hot weather most of the year, though, doesn't prepare me very well for dressing appropriately in cold weather. so i usually miss some extremity. lately, its been my hands. today, glove liners and wool mittens solved that problem.
i was in goodwill buying some blankets for the dogs and there was a cyclist at the checkout line buying longjohns and a heavy sweater and putting them on for his ride home. seems to catch a few of us by surprise. one lesson learned, i have figured out no matter how cold it is, you dont seem to need a stocking hat to run in. both times ive done this, my head feels like its about to explode. see, when its hot, u just wear less clothes and everythings fine. simple. layering is complicated. taking clothes off is a no brainer.
but no, i wont complain about the cold. i enjoy it. really. its good. besides, this is nothing compared to -5. when its brisk out and your eyes are watering from the cold wind....you feel alive. and... um. cold. but. u know...alive.
here's me and pie on our ride in the low sunset on sunday.

let's see, yesterday it was:
sports bra, tank top, jersey, arm warmers, northface jacket, pink rain shell (just to be visible), spandex, knee warmers, ratty sweatpants, ear wrap band thing, full fingered gloves.
i took the bus to work today.
ha... dang. cuz today has turned out to be warmer and great!
As long as the inner furnace is burning everything is fine. Cotton is not my winter friend. Wool, silk, or technical fabric, anything but cotton. "Brrr," makes me shiver just thinking about cooling down with a sweaty cotton base layer.
