riding to buda
not buda the fat jolly man. buda the tiny dot on the map now famous for housing the supa mega hunting store of the universe, cabelas. i got the dogs outside on a small little bike ride so they would nap all afternoon. and got out of the house at 2:30.
sunday was perfect. warm in the 60's, sunshine, little traffic. round trip from my house is 40miles. i could hardly wait to get going.
surprising there are no bike racks at cabelas. just lock up to the nearest deer blind.
i was lucky i wore my militia tshirt. when you walk around the store with a camera like you're at a carnival - its good to try to blend in.
i think this is new. animatronic stuffed hunting man that talks and moves when u press a button.
the gun and ammo aisle is where all the action (and surveillance) is. i was trying to sneak pictures and afraid i was going to be tackled any minute by security. "cleanup and disposal of intruder in aisle 8 please".
my pops loves this store. i grew up with him going off on week long hunting trips. i remember waking up to dead birds in the sink. he's an outdoorsman. canoing, working the land...he still goes out, but shoots less. now he watches. hangs out with his buddies. he calls me up to tell me about what he saw. i say, 'dad did u kill anything?' and he say's, 'no not this trip....we saw a few...but, they didn't show up like we thought' and i tell him, 'cool....they got my email in time'. and we laugh.

your dad sounds cool. that's the way it goes with outdoorsmen.... at some point watching becomes more important than pulling the trigger. it's all good!
