i got a load up top
im trying to move on from the spacelady love triangle story. it could only get better if moon monsters were involved. or aliens. same difference. if you are living in a cave and only see this webpage in your mind: so the lady astronaut wigs out over her captain astronaut showing attention to some other lady and drives 1000 miles in her spacesuit diapers so she doesn't have to stop to go to the bathroom to confront her (or kill her, whatever). she disguises herself in a trench coat & wig (awesome) and walks up to the other lady and pepper sprays her. later, they find the drama astronaut at a bus stop with these every day items in her bag: a new steel mallet, a new folding knife with a 4-inch blade, 3 to 4 feet of rubber tubing, several large plastic garbage bags and about $600 in cash. and i'm just going to assume, more spacesuit diapers.
its stories like these that make me think the government plants these 'events' to placate the nation and have the news people cover every sordid angle for days, weeks....so that it can march forward with its diabolical world domination plans and get some time out of the headlines. i still love that story though.
we rigged up the xtracycle with a fork mount and yakima tray so that i can carry a bike. i use the many talented bike mechanics around town and when i would drop off a bike for repair, i always wished i had another to still get around town. problem solved.
i rode it back from bicycle sport shop yesterday and all went well. its stable and sturdy. if you find yourself at BSS, have the very nice joy ride girls make you their new greenbelt smoothie. that is heavenly and good for you.
here's the blowup centerfold.
here is kris at BSS riding it. he was the first one that i ever saw ride a xtracycle and got me all excited bout them.

Wow! That is quite a load. Keep on truckin'!
Way Cool....
You aren't planning any cross country rides to pepper spray someone are you?
;)
haha....not without my space suit diapers!
crazy. i thought the space lady thing was a joke or a fictional story idea you were pitching - but i googled it to be sure. its no joke. clearly i live under a rock or some stories just don't get over the border.
the xtra cycle set-up is awesome. one less reason to own a car.
I do maintenance for a bike share program and use an xtracycle to move bikes around.
You can tow a bike (in fact you can tow two at a time) with the xtracycle by dropping the front wheel in the side bags "freeloaders". You need to take the horizontal strap ("sidewinder" I think they call it) and put it around the outside of the wheel and bag. It also helps to run a strap around the fork crown to the opposite v-rack, the idea being to pull the fork across and create tension against the sidewinder. (I'm not explaining this very well, sorry)
The advantages are that you don't have to take the front wheel off and add no extra weight. It's also marginally more stable because the rear wheel is on the ground taking some of the towed bike's weight.
The big disadvantage is that you have to pad the fork or it will scrape against the V-rack and deck and given enough trips it will start to wear through the sleaves on the freeloader. If you load the towed bike on the xtracycle's drive side and don't strap it right the front wheel can also bang against the derailler.
The towed bike tracks quite well, much like a bob trailer, but really tight right angle corners can cause it to flop over. No technical singletrack whilst towing I'm afraid.
I think that this ROCKS
