rain and tornados
no tornados yet. but we have till 6pm tonite. we have rain and lightening and thunder and dark skies. kinda fun. i rode in - goretex and the xtracycle and wool knee socks. i may have to canoe home.
thanks for all the good tips on stinky shirts. i appreciate it. and yet i still see it as a badge of honor. there is truth in sweat. prolly not - but it sounds noble.
a lady pulled onto a side street directly in front of me as i was charging along duval this morning. she is lucky i snapped out of my day dream or else i would have been in her lap. her passenger window was open as i was grabbing for a wad full of brake, and so i made it clear in a loud voice that she just barely avoided a large body imprint on her car. she didn't seem to care. nor did i as i gave her the mal de ojo. then she turned into a chicken. it was crazy.
here is my trusty monkeyxtracycle. i love this bike. and its fun in the rain. yes. i notice the seat is slightly turned. i must have had a strong left-sided pedal stroke on the way in today.

sweet ass socks! are those shoes spd compatible? it raining here too. sweet wat to say goodbye to the snow.
One of my friends, and a Tx4000 alum, was taken out by a driver in this week under much the same circumstances as you. I don't know the cross street but she was headed up Duval and this lady makes eye contact and proceeds to pull out in front of my friend. Luckily no serious harm was done, but there were calls to insurance companies and doctors. Riding to AK and dealing with all the harsh aspects of the public roads and it takes one bone-head pulling into a bike lane to bring her tally of wrecks to 1. Ride safe, friends!
you get to find out who the real commuters are. funny how your bike is alone on the rack...i was taken out by a quick parker on congress today. first time i've ever really wished i had disc brakes. i was so angry. had to stop self from screaming and cursing at careless volvo lady. am fine, though. the bike too. we each have added a layer of bitterness. #523 by my count.
Did some screaming and cursing myself today. Knobhead was backing out of an ally without looking behind him. I saw his backup lights but when he paused I thought he'd seen me. I mean, I'm six feet tall riding a tall frame and was wearing a yellow gortex jacket, admittedly a little grubby, but still, not exactly hard to spot.
Nope, I guess I blended in. Missed me by centimeters and that was only because I dodged to the inside just as he straightened out.
Gave him a good yelling at and got a sincere apology in response, totally disarmed me that did. I'm used to indifference or hostility and really had nothing to respond with. Ah well, I guess my prejudices against car drivers aren't always warrented.
I love my Xtracycle. Not that you'd need this down your way but they make excellent snowbikes. The long wheelbase and extra weight keeps 'em tracking straight in the loose mushy stuff.
I just wanted to say "hi"... partner and I are new to the neighborhood and Don was so surprised this morning when he saw you (Speedway near the 2 churches) that all he could say was "Chainsaw!"
We're the couple on the matching orange Masi's.
::waves::
hi dave. thanks...
nick. good to see you last nite and on the bike. sorry of your volvo encounter. wtf. hate to hear friends hitting pavement due to this.
daniel: i heard about her wreck on utcycling. sucks. i dont mind riding duval....but hate it also for its blind sidestreets. cars pull up and out of those intersections without really looking. glad she is ok.
coel. :-( a sincere apology? wow. i like to say in these circumstances....hay, thanks for not killing me today.
HI KATHLEEN! yes. i saw him on his masi. lovely bike. so glad to meet you and welcome to the neighborhood - hope to see you out and about.
I'm sure we'll see you around. Maybe we'll even be brave and wave "hi" :D
Do you by any chance have a beautiful red kitty umbrella with ears? Because I saw someone walking by my house Monday? Tuesday? With one. And I want I want! If not...um, nevermind.
We wanted to do the Shiner GASP, but the longest ride we've ever done is 25miles... a super hilly 25, but still only 25. I'm sure we'll see you around sometime though!
