pondscum popcorn
do they have spirulina topping at the movies?
they are plucking people off their rooftops outside of austin from 20inches of rain overnight. more on the way apparently. exciting times. meanwhile tahoe burns.
AND meanwhile...dave has pulled out of the great divide race. i hope he is not beating up himself about this. what he accomplished since the race began on june 15 is big. 12 days starting in montana and ending for him in Flagg Ranch, WY, so i dunno 600-700 miles over that timespan on a fixedgear on mountain bike trails. dang. you did good dave. more than anything i could imagine. thats tough.
i grilled for the first time and feel i prolly gave everyone a good dose of cancer. i have no idea what i'm doing - it's been a while. i used wood pieces and i think you're supposed to soak them first. (always read instructions afterwards). i smoked out the entire neighborhood. brilliant. i'm looking at some sustainable and enviro-friendly (as friendly as you can get while grilling) fuel next time around. i can't find any that ships to the US without being $$$ in shipping. will check wheatsville.
and im on my way to the orthopedic surgeon doctor to check out this knee situation that's hampering my Olympic training schedule. somethings weird in there. need to nail that down and get on with it. i like to knit and all.....but i need to ride my bike. further than just around austin on my commutes.
here's me and tula on a ride at Austin State Hospital.
i got more photos from our tour of the 3rd floor that's not in use (though the rest of the building is). it's the best place i've been in for a long time. truly wonderful beautiful and sad.
