playing doctor
i picked up some tips during the procedure. im going to start with knitting needles and screwdrivers. keep things simple.
so ya. the procedure was very quick and surreal. i took the 2 vicodin 1hr before. we got there and they put me in a pink tshirt (anyone want a pink tshirt size large?) and hairnet. i felt like a cafeteria worker.
i sat down in the chair and a very nice lady put a mask over my nose and told me to breathe deeply. which i did. she said my toes and fingers should start feeling tingly. which they didn't. she would ask me if they were and i would say no. hmmmm. dont panic i would think. breath deep. then she prepped my arm for the IV. squeeze release squeeze release. i lost track of if i was supposed to keep doing it or not - then i think the needle went in and she said relax. the doc. came in and held my hand for a bit and complimented my hairnet. i kept thinking um, i'm not really asleep here. caution. alert. wait. dont start. but as he said to open wide, and put something in my mouth to keep it open....that's pretty much the last i remember.
i can't believe in what felt like (and was) a very short amount of time he got 2 teeth out and stitched me up. next thing i know, they are taking the mask off, taking the IV out and asking me to stand up. then i had to do 10 jumping jacks. are u serious? maybe i hallucinated that.
they lead me to the recovery room where greg was and we sat there for a bit. they came in and handed me a packet of stuff with instructions and he started talking to greg about his tattoos. ha. the doc was cool. he knew his stuff.
so now i'm just chipmunk cheeks and sore. but overall - its not so bad. i ate some ice cream. i think thats a requirement. g and the dogs are not in nurse hats as i had requested, but they are doing a good job. well that is when the dogs are not sleeping on the job.
happy weekend. thanks for the emails and comments and dry socket stories. ugh - must avoid that.

you can go to the video store in your pj's as long as they're flannel. jammy bottoms and a tee....

hey there-
just moved to Austin a few weeks ago, and stumbled upon your blog while looking for local bike stuff...
glad to hear you survived the operation. looks like they were uppers? if so, your less likely to have complications (thanks gravity!)
nice pups! hope you're back out on the roads soon.
