wanted to let Lee know we missed him. he had a family emergency to attend to back home and so was out of town. my good thoughts were with him. ron and aubrey took the reins and did a great job with the grand opening and alleycat crit. the band was loud and good when i got there around 8:30. the keg was flowing and cold. was setting up to be a good evening. lots of folks came out to watch and race. beers were drunk, maps were handed out and race spoke cards were placed in wheels. around 9:15pm we were off.

we had a nice rather leisurely "neutral" lap to get to know the course, then swung back around for the real line up. then we were underway. again: i have to say the folks standing on the corners letting us know if cars were up or not were so nice and helpful - thanks a bunch for doing that.

the cops showed up shortly after we started. they parked with lights on at the first corner, which was the sketchest off North Loop. we kept racing and going round...were real close to finishing....almost 20min into it and i came around to turn back in front of the crowd and onto North Loop and Aubrey was telling us to stop at the stop sign - the cop was now up at the shop/start and was calling the race off. AUGH. dang.

no citations were issued. they left and we got on to the track skid contest. again whitney seemed to find skid where there was none left...and seth, dustin and ron laid some marks down too.

it was a fun summer eve - something to do on your bike with friends - and sounds like more coming up. i heard july 31st being tossed out there. so keep your ears to the ground. a big thanks to Aubrey at the Peddler Bike Shop for hosting and ron for picking up for Lee and everyone that showed up and yelled and hung out. i had a great time out there and it sure helps to keep going when someone is yelling at you to do so. haha...
